Malang, July 8, 2026 — Stunting remains one of Indonesia's most pressing human development challenges. In line with the national target of reducing the stunting prevalence rate to 14.2% by 2029, achieving this goal requires strong multi-stakeholder collaboration and the sustained implementation of interventions that reach families and communities.
As part of this effort, Edufarmers International Foundation (Edufarmers), in collaboration with the Government of Malang Regency, officially launched the TANGGUH (Responsive Parenting and Nutrition for Healthy Children) Program to accelerate stunting prevention and reduction across Malang Regency.
The TANGGUH Program builds upon Edufarmers' stunting prevention and reduction initiative that has been implemented in Malang Regency since 2022. Between 2022 and 2025, the program achieved a 10.45% reduction in stunting prevalence among its beneficiaries, demonstrating that targeted, collaborative interventions can deliver measurable impact at the community level.
The kick-off event, held at the Anusapati Meeting Hall in Malang Regency, marked an important milestone in strengthening the shared commitment of local government agencies, healthcare professionals, and other key stakeholders to support the implementation of the TANGGUH Program throughout the 2026–2029 period.
The event was attended by representatives from the Government of Malang Regency, the Malang Regency Health Office, the Population Control and Family Planning Agency (DPPKB), healthcare workers, sub-district governments, and village governments. The broad participation from multiple sectors reflects the understanding that accelerating stunting reduction requires strong coordination and collaboration across all levels.
The event commenced with opening remarks by the Vice Regent of Malang, Lathifah Shohib, followed by the official launch of the TANGGUH Program in Malang Regency.
In her remarks, Lathifah Shohib emphasized that accelerating stunting reduction is a shared responsibility that demands cross-sector collaboration.
"Preventing and reducing stunting cannot be achieved by a single institution alone. It requires strong collaboration between government, the private sector, healthcare professionals, and communities to ensure that every intervention is implemented effectively and creates meaningful impact. We welcome the TANGGUH Program as a strategic initiative to strengthen our efforts to accelerate stunting reduction in Malang Regency."
The event continued with remarks from the Head of the Malang Regency Health Office, Wiyanto Wijoyo, who presented the government's strategy for implementing nutrition-specific interventions to accelerate stunting prevention and reduction throughout the regency.
During the same occasion, Edufarmers Foundation Chairman Yahja Djanggola reaffirmed Edufarmers' long-term commitment to supporting sustainable stunting reduction efforts.
"Through the TANGGUH Program, we want to ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to grow up healthy and reach their full potential. We believe that meaningful change begins with consistent interventions at the family and community levels."
The TANGGUH Program adopts a comprehensive approach built around five key pillars: improving access to nutritious food, promoting behavior change communication, strengthening early detection and monitoring, leveraging AI-powered technology, and ensuring access to quality healthcare services. Through this integrated approach, Edufarmers aims to ensure that stunting interventions extend beyond policy discussions and translate into meaningful action at the village and household levels.
During its initial phase, the TANGGUH Program will be implemented in four sub-districts across Malang Regency: Donomulyo, Lawang, Poncokusumo, and Turen. The program is expected to strengthen the quality of nutrition interventions while fostering sustainable behavior change among participating families.
Edufarmers hopes that the implementation of the TANGGUH Program will reinforce a shared commitment among all stakeholders to accelerate stunting reduction in Malang Regency. Through strong collaboration, the initiative aims to contribute to a healthier, more resilient, and stunting-free generation for Indonesia.
